Gelato and Sorbetto
Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream or frozen dairy dessert. Although it may seem similar to ice cream, gelato has an entirely different origin and production process. Talenti gelato is particularly special, because we make it from scratch with the finest ingredients imported from around the world, and use an old world process that involves slow cooking our ingredients and making our gelato in smaller batches. Talenti is, clearly, gelato the way it was intended to be made.
Gelato contains less air than ice cream & frozen dairy dessert, so it is intensely flavorful and has a smooth, velvety texture.
Sorbetto is the Italian word for sorbet and is 100% dairy-free becauseit'smade with water,sugars,and oftentimes includes fruit, fruit juice, and or/fruit puree. Talenti's Sorbettos are uniquely crafted to contain more of the good stuff like fresh fruit to create a rich, smooth, velvety texture
Dairy Information and Ingredients
Our top non-dairy sorbettos are fully Non-GMO Project verified, and you’ll see their seal on the back of those pints. We use a third party called Where Food Comes From to verify that our ingredients are non-GMO sourced. This lets you know that we triple-checked their sourcing to adhere to our non-GMO sourced standards.

Our Roman Raspberry, Alphonso Mango and Summer Strawberry Sorbetto flavours are suitable for a vegan diet. We always recommend checking the label before consuming any products as ingredients may change.
All of our gelatos have dairy, but all Talenti sorbettos are dairy-free! Enjoy!
Yes, all of our products are pasteurized in the beginning stages of production and are safe for everyone to enjoy—including pregnant women! (Yay moms!)
We love our cows, and we love the people who eat what our cows make. Therefore, we make sure all of the dairy products used in Talenti are sourced from humane farms where the cows are not treated with antibiotics or artificial growth hormones, including rBGH.
Nope, never!
Our Caramel Cookie Crunch Gelato uses corn syrup to provide the gooey texture. Please note that this is not high-fructose corn syrup, as we are against using this ingredient and do not add that to any of our products.
Long story short: keeping your gelato cold and smooth. The dextrose used in our product is a derivative of corn, to lower the freezing point, a critical function in making frozen desserts. Dextrose is a very effective natural ingredient to perform this task. We use very little of this ingredient in our product, but it helps add to the smooth mouth feel and is traditionally found in gelato.
Because no one likes a weird-tasting gelato! Soy lecithin is a stabilizer that helps to extend shelf life and protect the product from getting freezer burnt. This is extremely important to ensure that our products are rich, creamy, and delicious! Our third-party testing shows that our soy lecithin does not contain any GMOs; however, it is not officially certified as such.
Ah, good question. All of the natural flavours included in Talenti products are comprised of ingredients such as fruit juices, fruit concentrates, essential oils, and extracts; however, they vary by flavour. Most of the exact ingredients are considered to be proprietary information by our vendor-partners
Talenti does not actively add palm oil when creating our products. We use inclusions (such as baked goods that can be found in some of our gelato) from suppliers that use sustainable, ethically-sourced palm oil (certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) from Indonesia or Malaysia.
It’s not easy being green. But, as you know, we don’t give up easily, which is why we went through a rigorous process to find the perfect green while adhering to our high standards of flavour and quality. We ultimately found the perfect solution with alfalfa sprout extract. It has almost no flavour and yet provides a beautiful green.
Talenti offers gluten-free products. Please always read the ingredient declaration on the label as this will have the most up to date information. All sources of gluten are required to be declared as per Health Canada’s Food and Drug Regulations.

Thanks for reaching out. Some of our Talenti Dairy Free products may contain eggs. We include eggs in our recipe to deliver that smooth and creamy texture that you know and love. Milk (Dairy) and Eggs are two different allergens. As with any Food Allergy, please always read the ingredient declaration on the label as this will have the most up to date information.

While we maintain strict temperature control of our products, we do not have control over their care once they leave our facility. Sometimes, during distribution or in the store, a pint may have a chance to thaw and then refreeze, causing its ingredients to separate, become gritty, or develop freezer burn and ice crystals. If you find that your recent purchase seems to have these characteristics, we recommend taking it back to the store for a replacement or a refund.
Absolutely! Talenti’s plastic lid and jar are actually more sustainable than most other ice cream packaging today. Talenti’s jars are fully recyclable – just be sure to rinse the jar and screw the lid on first. We also recommend reusing your Talenti jar before recycling, just remember that the jars are not microwave or dishwasher safe!
